We are open all year round (with a blazing log fire to keep you as warm as toast) and have free parking. At the request of our Golden Retriever 'Gaston', well behaved dogs are welcome.
You may choose to watch breakfast telly, then stroll down from your cosy beamed en-suite room to indulge in a generous full English Breakfast. This includes fresh fruit juice and cereals or maybe kippers and scrambled egg?
Whatever, enjoy a hearty breakfast, because frankly, you're going to need it! Walking, cycling, riding, fishing, shooting, sailing, swimming, surfing. They're all on our doorstep.
Situated at one end of the newly created Coleridge Way and near the start of the 500 mile South West Coast Path not to mention the miles and miles of paths on Exmoor, Porlock is a fantastic location for the walker.
At Myrtle Cottage we pride ourselves on our bed and big breakfast.
When we say big breakfast, we're not just talking about quantity. More to the point we're referring to our quality. We use the very best local produce, including eggs and bacon from local farms and even the tea and coffee come from the Porlock village merchant.

Jane and Selina Groves would like to take this opportunity of welcoming you to Knights Rest, Isle of Wight. This 170 year old manor house offers bed and breakfast accommodation for adults only, throughout the year. Situated in Shanklin, the Isle of Wights favourite seaside town with its blend of sandy beaches, high annual sunshine hours combined with old world charm, Knights Rest is the ideal ambience for a relaxing holiday or a short refreshing break.
Knights Rest prides itself on a huge variety of breakfasts to cater for everyones needs, including regular specials. Standing back from the road, behind its own gravel driveway Knights Rest has plenty of car parking spaces. The newly refurbished accommodation comprises five double rooms, one twin room and one single room, all with en suite facilities, on the ground and first floors. All rooms have telephones, colour televisions, hairdryers, tea and coffee trays and all modern facilities. Breakfast is a specialty with an array of unusual dishes as well as the more conventional English or Continental varieties.
Suitable for adults only, Knights Rest does not cater for children. We regret no pets. The Isle of Wight has miles of sand, sea and countryside. With so many tourist attractions the Island is one of the most re-visited leisure locations in the U.K. Knights Rest was built in the 1830s using a mixture of Gothic, Florentine and other styles so often found in London and similar cities but previously unseen on the Isle of Wight. Originally built as a manor house Knights Rest was converted into a hotel in the early 1900s when Shanklin experienced a rapid rise in tourism and the ever-popular seaside holiday. For the 21st Century Knights Rest has been sympathetically refurbished while retaining its original character wherever possible.

Upper House B&B is a 15th century farmhouse with a large garden and heated swimming pool, two sitting rooms and dining room. Bedrooms are large each with private bathroom, television and tea tray. Valentine is an excellent cook and uses seasonal fruit and vegetables from the garden. She was brought up in Alexandria Egypt, having lived there through the war, and came back in 1948 and married a Hampshire farmer. They converted Upper House from a near derelict farmhouse and brought up a large family and now enjoy having guests to stay from all over the world.

Located in the centre of this village renowned for its `Martyrs' of 1834, Tolpuddle Hall is a spacious Georgian building of 1750 that was enlarged and re-modelled by the Victorians in 1860. For most of its life, it was the residence of the vicars of the parish of Tolpuddle; after World War II it became a farmhouse, but when Paul Wright acquired the property in 1993 it was, in his words, "a total wreck". Over the years he has completely renovated the house, furnishing its rooms with stylish furniture, adding a conservatory and creating delightful landscaped gardens to the front and rear.
There are 6 guest bedrooms, large enough to be called mini-apartments, all with en suite facilities, TV and hospitality tray. The reception rooms are also spacious and comfortable, and an appetising breakfast is included in the tariff. A retired academic and self-confessed eccentric, Paul offers specialist themed holidays exploring such topics as local history or the life of Thomas Hardy and the places associated with him. English as a Foreign Language courses are available, and Paul, who is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, also offers bird watching holidays.
